Matrix of Services Support

Maximizing funding for students with unique abilities.

For families using the Florida Empowerment Scholarship – Unique Abilities (FEA-UA), the Matrix of Services score directly determines the amount of funding available for private education, home education, and related supports. A higher, accurate score can unlock additional resources for your child’s learning and development.

We help you understand, review, and—when appropriate—advocate for a score that truly reflects your child’s needs.

What is the Matrix of Services?

The Matrix of Services is a tool used in Florida to assign a funding level based on a student’s educational and support needs. The score considers five key domains:

  • Curriculum & Learning Environment

  • Social/Emotional Behavior

  • Independent Functioning

  • Health Care

  • Communication

For FEA-UA Scholarship students, this score is essential—it impacts the annual amount of scholarship funding your family receives.

How We Help

1. Data Review

We examine your child’s evaluations, medical documentation, IEP/504 plans, progress reports, and other records to assess whether the current Matrix score accurately reflects their needs.

2. Score Analysis

We break down how your child’s documented supports and services align with the criteria used in the Matrix scoring process.

3. Advocacy for Higher Scores

If the evidence suggests a higher score is warranted, we help you prepare and present the supporting documentation to the appropriate reviewers—potentially increasing your child’s funding.

4. Ongoing Guidance

We can revisit the Matrix score in the future as your child’s needs evolve to ensure funding levels remain appropriate.

Why It Matters

An accurate Matrix score means your child gets the right level of funding for therapies, supports, and educational opportunities. Without careful review, students may receive less than they are entitled to—limiting access to valuable resources.
